Meet the Staff

 Ben Groen - Senior Pastor

Ben completed his undergraduate degree from Northwestern College (now University of Northwestern, St. Paul) and received his Master’s Degree from Bethel Seminary. He started out at Oxboro as an intern in 2008 with the student ministry where he met his wife Anna, who was also an intern. They got married in 2010 and have two girls, Ruthie and Evie, that bring joy to their lives. It was also in 2010 that Ben became the full-time Associate Pastor and he had that position until January 2017 when he become Oxboro’s Senior Pastor.  Ben’s primary passion aligns with the mission of Oxboro church—moving all people closer to Christ. His life has been transformed through what Christ has done on the cross and this is what we get to pursue together as a church.

Spending time with Anna and his two girls are at the top of his list outside of church. Ben also loves to play sports along with cheering on MN sports teams.  Contact Pastor Ben at: ben@oxboro.org.  

Student Ministries Pastor

While we are sad to have Ben leave the youth ministry, but we are thrilled to have Pastor Ben now in the role of Senior Pastor.

Shawn Brown - Minister of Music

Shawn graduated with a Masters of Accounting from Truman State University in Kriksville, MO. He and Angela have been married for 25 years and they have a beautiful "tween" daughter. Before coming to Oxboro, Shawn worked in various finance and accounting roles in insurance and debt collection industries. Currently he is a Controller at a local financial services firm as well as leading worship at Oxboro. Watching U of Michigan football, camping and canoeing and working as a high school guys small group leader at church are at the top of Shawn's list for what he enjoys doing. Psalm 119:32 reminds him of the freedom that comes from following the Father's commands in His written Word and listening to the leading of His Holy Spirit. John 12:32 helps as his inspiration to design worship services that draw all people to Christ. Contact Shawn at: shawn@oxboro.org. 

Kathy Hamann - Office/Facilities Administrator

Kathy attended Lawrence University Conservatory of Music in Appleton, WI. She has been married to Robert for 37 years and has two grown children - one of which is married so she has a daughter-in-law. Before coming to work at Oxboro in 1998 Kathy worked in the West St. Paul Schools as a paraprofessional substitute, at Lieberman Music Company in accounts receivable and at Bix Furniture Refinishing/Reupholster in the office. Reading, walking and dinner with family and friends top Kathy's interest list. She is proud to say that 2015 will be her 10th year either walking or working the 3Day Walk for a Cure! The Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue is also lucky to have Kathy volunteer for them - And yes, the family has a Great Dane of their own! Two of the scriptures that Kathy leans on are Psalm 23 and Psalm 121:1. Contact Kathy at: office@oxboro.org. 

Lori Zurich - Secretary

Lori graduated from Bethel University, St. Paul, MN back when it was still Bethel College, with a degree in Seconday Education/Language Arts. She has been married to Ray for 19 years and has one teenage son. Before coming to Oxboro in 2010 Lori worked as an English teacher at Carl Hayden Community High School in Phoenix, AZ, was a yearbook sales representative in MN for Herff Jones, did computer training at MNETA and worked in retail at Mainstream Boutique. Cooking, baking, scrapbooking and shopping are on Lori's "to do list" when she isn't working. Volunteering with her son's traveling baseball association and directing the Vacation Bible School at the church are two of her highlights each summer. It was freshman year at Bethel when Jeremiah 29:11 became her life verse. it's comforting knowing that God has great plans for our life even when we wonder what in the world is going on! Contact Lori at: office@oxboro.org.
